Vanke Master Sales Center: A Salute to Suzhou's Cultural Heritage

Zhou Ping's Design Captures the Essence of Suzhou's Rich History and Poetic Romance

Zhou Ping's inspiration for the design came from the rich cultural heritage of Suzhou. Known for its beautiful landscapes, traditional music, and delicious delicacies, the city has been home to numerous literati, artists, and masters over generations. The design of the Sales Center aims to create an ideal residential environment for the modern learned people, saluting the independent thinking of the great masters and showing respect and admiration for their spirits.

The unique properties of the design lie in its simplicity and elegance. The gable roof and the natural combination of transverse and longitudinal lines on the ceiling form a space full of rhythm. The plain but elegant background and decorations give the space a disposition of tranquility and peacefulness. The refined colors, natural materials, rough textures, and furnishings with imprints of age show the static lapse of time, letting people in the space feel the serene elegance and comfortable peace.

The Sales Center is a 1000 square meter project completed in March 2018. The design is a perfect blend of form and function, with a glass wall allowing a penetrating view of the porch outside, breaking the boundaries between spaces and allowing the artistic air of nature to flow freely. The space is a simple, elegant, natural, unadorned, and quiet place that represents an abstract image, a feeling, a spirit. It integrates the temperament and interests of literati with their practical demands, turning the natural elegance in the space into a subtle rhythm that can arouse meditation on life and bring comfort to the soul.

The design faced several challenges, including maintaining the natural and unvarnished nature of the space. Through comparisons on materials and textures, as well as languages of the vessels, the design has implied four realms of life which are full of Zen spirits, including less talking, more travelling, being simpler so as to achieve perfection. The calm and light colors create a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere for the space, displaying the natural and unvarnished nature of the space.

The Vanke Master Sales Center was awarded Platinum in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019. The award recognizes world-class, exceptional, and highly innovative designs that showcase unmatched professionalism, genius, and contribute to societal wellbeing. The design of the Sales Center is a testament to Zhou Ping's ability to capture the essence of Suzhou's rich history and poetic romance, creating a space that is not only functional but also a work of art.
